Prepare yourselves for the adrenaline rush of a lifetime at the inaugural ‘Drag Racing Festival’ coming to the newly launched Drag Racing Centre on 19-20 March, 2010!
The two nitro burning Top Fuel dragsters will debut at the inaugural Drag Racing Festival and will be driven by nine-time NHRA winner Tommy Johnson, Jr., and 2007 Top Fuel Vice Champion Rod ‘Hot Rod’ Fuller. A Top Fuel Dragster has 8000 horsepower and can accelerate from zero to over 480 km/hr in less than four seconds.
The Drag Racing Festival will feature the region’s top drag race teams from the GCC competing with over 100 race cars and motorcycles in a variety of race categories led by the Pro Mods- highly modified vehicles with close to 1700 horsepower. The Pro Mod is a highly modified vehicle based on an American muscle car body. The Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette are the two most popular styles, but do expect some Ford Mustang-bodied cars on the Drag Strip as well! The cars run around 321km/hr in the quarter-mile.
Throughout the day the racers will have the opportunity to make time trials (practice runs), qualify on Friday and compete on Saturday in the elimination rounds.
A host of entertainment activities have been planned for the entire family. Doors open at 4pm with the most spectacular drag racing action taking place from 6pm – 9pm each day!
So, don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to see some of the fastest vehicles on the planet at the first Drag Racing Festival!
