Lewis Hamilton has presented a replica of his race helmet with ‘44’ branding to the Acting Director General, TCA Abu Dhabi, HE Jasem Al Darmaki, ahead of the 2015 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX at Yas Marina Circuit.

The handover was made to celebrate the recently announced partnership between Hamilton, whose race number is 44, and Abu Dhabi, which next week celebrates its 44th National Day. The three-times World Champion will wear the specially-made ‘44’ helmet during the season finale on Sunday.

His Excellency Jasem Al Darmaki, Acting Director General, TCA Abu Dhabi, said: "We are immensely proud that Lewis will share the occasion of our 44th National Day with a global audience, and to have the endorsement of the 2015 world champion speaks volumes for his affinity to Abu Dhabi.

Lewis, who drives so spectacularly under the number 44, epitomises values of passion and commitment, both equally respected by the people of the UAE, and is an inspirational ambassador for his sport.

Hamilton has been heavily celebrating the 44th UAE National Day on his social media channels and has felt very at home at Yas Marina Circuit this weekend. The number ‘44’ appears on the Abu Dhabi Motorsport Management (ADMM) HQ building, which sits alongside the longest straight on the Formula 1® calendar.

As part of his partnership with Abu Dhabi, Hamilton will also wear ‘44’ and the UAE colours on his race gloves during the season-ending Grand Prix on Sunday, in which he could win his 44th Formula 1® race.
