A WEEKEND OF DRAMA PROVIDES A THRILLING SEASON CLOSER TO YAS RACING SERIES
Karim Al Azhari storms to victory and is crowned champion in the TRD 86 Cup for the second year running
UAE Time Attack, Ferrari ME and Ferrari Challenge Asia-Pacific races also provide spectacular action in the final rounds of Yas Racing Series
Yas Marina Circuit hosted the grand finale of Yas Racing Series last weekend as fans and drivers enjoyed another two days of closely-fought racing action.
Throughout both Friday and Saturday, fans were treated to a range of highly competitive races in Round 4, including the final two rounds of the 2016 TRD 86 Cup’s sophomore season, UAE Time Attack as well as the return of the Ferrari ME Cup and Ferrari Challenge Asia – Pacific Series
After a phenomenal season and closely fought finale at Yas Marina Circuit, Karim Al Azhari was crowned 2016 TRD 86 Cup champion with an outstanding 220 points, for the second consecutive year. Mohammed Abdul Ghaffer was declared runner up with 192 points after chasing Al Azhari throughout the Season, Ahmel Al Melaihi came in third with a total of 154 points.
Speaking shortly after his victory, Karim Al Azhari said: “It feels fantastic to win especially on home soil. It maybe even feels better than last year as I feel like I set the standard the first time around. As we all know motor sport can be really unpredictable so after a difficult start to the season I am very glad to be standing on the top of the podium.”

In addition to the TRD 86 Cup, Rounds 3 and 4 of Yas Racing Series saw the return of the Ferrari ME and Ferrari Challenge Asia-Pacific races with both days producing some serious horsepower action.
Kantasak Kusiri dominated in the Ferrari Challenge Asia-Pacific and finish first, putting Steve Wyatt in second and leaving Florian Merckx third.

Fans were also treated to the flat-out excitement of cars and drivers pitted against the clock in the UAE Time Attack. In the A & B class final Heats, Fadi Bikawi was the fastest of the group, posting the quickest lap of 2.24.966 followed by Ashan Silva (2.30.604) with Khaled Al Qubaisi clocking an impressive 2.33.520 to place third.
In the final heats of classes C & D Abdulaziz Al Yaeesh posted the quickest lap of 2.38.980. Finishing in second and third were Marwan Alrahmani and Abdulla Ahmed Ali with times of 2.39.216 and 2.41.760 respectively.
