F1 IN SCHOOLS™ WORLD FINALS 2019 CLOSING CEREMONY HELD ON YAS MARINA CIRCUIT

Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, 29 November, 2019: Yas Marina Circuit last night hosted the F1 in Schools™ World Finals 2019 Presented by ADNOC Closing Ceremony at Turn 1 next to Shams Tower on the iconic F1® track – the most exciting and unique venue yet in the 15-year history of F1 in Schools™ World Finals. 

The 2019 ceremony was the first time the finals have been held on an F1® circuit just before race weekend, and the first time outdoors.

The Closing Ceremony saw Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit joined at the event by Chase Carey, CEO of Formula One Group, plus racing legend Nico Rosberg – who was crowned F1® World Drivers Champion at Yas Marina Circuit in 2016, as well as Reem Al Buainain, Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility from title sponsor ADNOC.

Team from 55 schools from 22 countries competed over four days of intense competition, with the F1 in Schools™ World Finals 2019 Presented by ADNOC won by Evolve UK, a team of 17 and 18-year old boys from Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Faversham, Kent.

Runners up were Fusion from Gymnasium Unterrieden, Sindelfingen, Germany with Aflex Hose Centurion Racing from Rishworth School, Halifax, UK, in third, completing the podium.  

UAE teams also competed in the 2019 edition, including Delta X-15 from GEMS World Academy Dubai and Blu Comet Racing from Gems World Academy, Dubai, having earned their slot by finishing of the UAE F1 in School™ Finals Presented by ADNOC.
