DATE ANNOUNCED FOR LANDMARK 10TH EDITION OF GULF 12 HOURS

The milestone event will take place in January 2021

Registration applications have been received from 38 teams for a total of 61 cars

Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, UAE, 30 August 2020: The 10th instalment of the Gulf 12 Hours will take place on Saturday 9 January, 2021 at Yas Marina Circuit, ensuring the new year begins with top-quality motorsport action in Abu Dhabi.

The milestone event will mark the opening of the 2021 world endurance racing season, giving UAE motorsport fans something to look forward to early next year.
Traditionally, the Gulf 12 Hours takes place on the second weekend of December, but the event has been pushed back due to the restructuring of the Formula 1 calendar following the global outbreak of Covid-19.

The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2020 will now take place on Sunday 13 December meaning a decision was made, between Yas Marina Circuit and the promoters of Gulf 12 Hours, for the event to be held in January.

While a unique place in the calendar gives fans the opportunity to enjoy the 10th edition of the Gulf 12 Hours early in the year, the 11th edition of the event is fully expected to revert to it’s customary December spot.

The grid for the 10th edition, on Saturday 9 January, is already over-subscribed with space for GT3 cars at a premium. Gulf 12 Hours will continue to allocate only one car per garage up to a maximum of 34 garages to ensure the highest quality standards of safety and professionalism are maintained.

Registration applications have been received from 38 teams for a total of 61 vehicles, only 34 cars in total cars allowed to compete for the race title in GT3, GT4 and Lamborghini Super Trofeo categories, the entry list will be published soon.
