Next year’s event will take place on Friday February 12 at Yas Marina Circuit

Athletes wishing to compete can now save the date and start training for the tough physical test

Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, May 31, 2020: The date for next year’s TriYAS Challenge has been announced, with the event scheduled to take place on Friday February 12, giving those athletes wishing to take part the opportunity to save the date.

As ever, the 11th edition of Abu Dhabi’s favourite community sporting event will be open to people of all ages and abilities, who will push their bodies to the limit over the disciplines of swimming, cycling and running at Yas Marina Circuit.

The 2020 event, which took place in February, was another huge success as hundreds of competitors took part in the day-to-night event, including the highest number of both Emirati competitors and youth entrants in the history of TriYAS Challenge.

There were various categories and distances in which athletes were able to compete, including Olympic and Sprint, while both male and female Open Water Swims were introduced for the first time.
Elsewhere, the Tri with Rio element of the event saw competitors pay a fee to complete the challenge alongside Team Angel Wolf, led by Nick Watson and his son Rio, who suffers from Q44 Deletion De Novo, a condition which means he struggles to walk and can only communicate using sign language.

Members of the community joined Team Angel Wolf out on the circuit and undertook various aspects of the triathlon, while also having the opportunity to push Rio for part of the distance.
There was also a Profield, made up of both local and international athletes, including Ruedi Wild, who enjoyed success in two separate races on the day.

With the date for the 2021 TriYAS Challenge, which is sponsored by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Al Ain Water, National Ambulance and Abu Dhabi Cycling Club, now officially announced, those athletes wishing to compete can save the date and start preparing for what is undoubtedly a tough physical test.

Further details about how to sign up and the event itself will be announced in due course.
